I've always been fascinated with anxiety.  When it's present, purportedly simple tasks like making a phone call, having a big meeting at work or making small talk at a party can all seem like epic challenges. When it's not present, we are able to exhale fully and shine a little more brightly. I love working with clients to understand the role that anxiety plays in their life. Together, methodically, one step at a time, we work toward changing their relationship with anxiety. I look forward to the opportunity to do that with you.

As a therapist who draws from a variety of modalities, I utilize the approach that would best connect with my clients’ inherent capacity for growth, as well as match their personality.

As a Person-Centred therapist at my core, I strive to build an authentic and trusting therapeutic relationship with every client.  I utilise evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Mindfulness Based Interventions; and Emotion Focused Therapy.

I received my Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. My clinical training extends back to 2006. I am involved in ongoing professional training and consultation on a regular basis in order to remain effective and current.  I am a member of the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My desire to better understand the neuroscience and clinical application of mindfulness had me return as a student to University of Toronto in recent years. I completed the Applied Specialisation in Mindfulness Meditation Certificate and, when useful, I integrate those learnings in session.

When I work with couples, I use an empirically supported Emotion-Focused approach. Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C) has been shown to be effective at creating connection and changing a couple's relationship in a positive and lasting way. Couples therapy can help with understanding and transforming a range of issues from communication challenges to serious emotional injuries, including betrayals and affairs. I have trained with Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Leslie Greenberg, leading world-renowned clinicians and researchers.

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you step into the life you want to be living.

I believe in honoring each individual's unique life journey. Our sessions will focus on exploring your strength in a non-judgmental and collaborative space. Instead of "fixing," I would like to work with you in "actualizing" your own truth as the starting point of your healing journey. I've been working at Toronto Western Hospital as a mental health clinician for 10+ years in both English and Mandarin. I work with clients from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs.

We will learn practical strategies, explore resiliency and develop genuine self-acceptance and new perspectives through eclectic, empirically supported therapeutic approaches that are meaningful for you. I have special interest in issues concerning trauma, mood disorders, infidelity, cross-cultural issues and life coaching.

I received my Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Peking University and my Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. I had my share of depression and history of abuse, but I won't impose my experience and values on you. I enjoy modalities such as CBT, MCBT, ACT, strength-based therapy, psychodynamic, attachments.

I help individuals and couples explore their experiences of anxiety and how this is affecting different areas of their lives. Using primarily Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Gottman Method, and Trauma-Informed orientations, I aim to bring a sense of empowerment to my clients' lives by cultivating new ways of thinking and coping. I have 10 years of experience as a mental health nurse helping individuals with severe mental illness in the community and hospital settings. My passion for mental wellness is influenced by my commitment to providing therapy grounded in using the social determinants of health as my framework.

As a first-generation Filipino immigrant to Canada and a woman in an intercultural relationship, I deeply value cultural integration in my practice. I also believe in each person's innate ability for healing and growth and I strive to foster this in the therapy space. My priority is to create a safe, open, warm and non-judgemental space for my clients to explore their experiences and perspectives. I also want you to know that I value being flexible to meet you where you are and co-explore an effective approach(es) you feel comfortable with.

I look forward to our work together! Talk to you soon!
